Thanks for the journey in learning to Paul and the creators of this course.

This is another photo of Hampton beach and no photo ever looks the same at beaches because like the internet they are regularly changing, sometimes for the good and sometimes not. This is one of my favourite photos and it reminds me of how big the world is and how there is so much good in the world because it fills me with positive feelings. There is one more photo that I want to blog and that is of Fiesty Cat whose name I borrowed for the duration of this course.

#23 Is this really the End?????

Unlike that that my little girl can almost climb up the wrong way I did wonder what I was going to discover. This course has been interesting and there are parts that I have enjoyed more than others. Parts of this course have reminded me what I knew that much time can be wasted playing with the internet and it various parts but also that there is great stuff there. Within the last week I have set up a Facebook account and now am enjoying playing with that but as of tonight I return to scrapbooking as I am feeling like it has been weeks since I did any. Although now my scrapbooking comes with a technology side, I have my new laptop that will also sit on the table exploring the world and between setting up pages and sticking them down I will direct the laptop in it's next direction and hopefully keep on learning because that is how one learns no matter what age we are.

#22 Audiobooks

When I eventually found out where the free audio books were I found that this could be a useful tool within the library as many people already borrow the audio books and record them onto listening devices. When I first looked at the audio books exercise I opened all of the discovery resources in different windows and every time I tried to look at the books the sites were looking for a subscription so I rang Paul who gave me another website to look at. I thought this morning that before I look at the new site to give the suggested site another go and finally found the part I was looking for.

Listening to the audio books is interesting as I was able to do this on the computer. I think this is an area that we should look at and develop as many within the community do have mp3 players and ipods. It is just another way of serving our communities. Although when Paul and I spoke about this on Wednesday he did say that there were several problems that needed to be sorted out first. Hopefully these can be and then off the technology train goes to the next thing.

#21 Podcasts

Podcasts are interesting, I played around on several of the directories and found a podcast about The Muppets and Harry Potter. I placed them into my bloglines account and was able to listen to them. As I was listening on the computer I found this a tad frustrating as I didn't feel I could leave them and come back so I can see the point of a MP3 player which enables you to move around and listen.

I can see a use for them in libraries as a way of passing on information to the patrons. We could use them for book reviews, new titles, forthcoming programs and the list goes on. Podcasts would be an interesting tool to develop within the library and use to our advantage.
